Confocal Laser Scanning Microscopy

Leica SP8 X Confocal Laser Scanning Microscope

In December 2018 we acquired a Leica SP8 X Confocal with a white light laser (470 – 670 nm), UV laser, argon laser, five detectors, LIGHTNING deconvolution, FLIM, FRET, and Phasor, plus sophisticated 3D reconstruction and presentation, on an upright DM6 microscope with a high-speed DFC9000 GTC digital camera.

Acquisition of the Leica TCS SP8 X confocal laser scanning microscope was supported by funds from the National Science Foundation under Grant No. 1828262 and matching funds from the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. Olympus Fluoview FV-1000 Confocal Laser Scanning Microscope

The facility houses an Olympus FV-1000 confocal microscope on an IX-81 inverted microscope. It is equipped with a blue diode laser, multi-argon laser, and green HeNe and red HeNe lasers. It can display three PMTs plus transmitted light image simultaneously.
